Small Animal Magnetic Resonance Imaging Facility

The Biological Sciences Department houses a Bruker ICON 1 Tesla cryogen-free permanent magnet desktop MRI system with coils for imaging mice and rat full body/head as well as equipment to keep animals anesthetized and monitor body states during the imaging experiments.  The system is capable of imaging using standard protocols used for human imaging including T1,T2 DWI and PD as well as non-standard ultra-fast sequences. The hardware is equipped with an animal gating and monitoring system (ECG, Temperature, Respiration) from SAI instruments for triggered data acquisition.  The hardware includes a cryogen-free, permanent magnet with industry-leading Paravision software from Bruker.
